Hotel Lilium: Budget Boutique

The Hotel Lilium is a fantastic option for those on a budget. There are only fourteen rooms, each uniquely themed with its own flower and soothing pastel shades. The owner herself has done all of the wall paintings and interior decorating, and the labor of love here is evident. After treating yourself to a complimentary breakfast, you can head over to the famous Barberini Piazza, Michelangelo’s Porta Pia, or Termini Train Station within a 10-minute walk. If you can snag this hotel during the winter months, you can get an even better rate. This should be your go-to budget hotel.

Momi Bed and Breakfast: Funky Mid-Range B&B

The Momi Bed and Breakfast is a small property that feels like a home away from home. The owners are known for their fantastic service and each of the three guest rooms is spacious and well-furnished. While expensive, Momi beats out most other hotels in the center in affordability and offers a unique location. This B&B is nestled in a small neighborhood near the Termini Train Station that will give you access to fantastic local and international restaurants. You’ll also be within a 20-minute walk of the Colosseum and the Basilica di San Giovanni.

Grand Hotel Plaza: High-End in the Heart of Rome

If you’re going big while in Rome, the Grand Hotel Plaza should be at the top of your list. The rooms are elegant and charming while the hotel itself features a swanky Piano Bar. There are also a lot of great local restaurants and eateries just out the door. Located on a quiet residential street, the Grand Hotel Plaza beats out all the others on this list in terms of location. It’s less than a 10-minute walk to the famous Trevi Fountain and Pantheon and only thirty minutes to Vatican City on foot. This prime location comes at a price, though. While it’s cheaper than the Aldrovandi Villa Borghese, it’s still a five-star hotel with a five-star price tag.

Aldrovandi Villa Borghese: Garden Estate Luxury

The Aldrovandi Villa Borghese is the total luxury option if you’ve got money to spend. Set on a huge estate that makes up part of the Villa Borghese gardens, you’ll be right in the heart of the city. This property is seriously impressive, with both indoor and outdoor pools and a restaurant that’s received two Michelin stars. While the rooms are classy and the amenities are top-notch, the real clincher here is the location. The Aldrovandi Villa Borghese is within a 25-minute walk of both the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain but still enjoys the serenity of the surrounding gardens. Here, you get the best of both worlds.

Wherever you choose to stay, whether it’s in Old Rome or on Esquiline Hill, you’re going to love it. Just make sure you can reach the city center easily to fully enjoy all that Rome has to offer.
